This is a nationwide non-profit organization has a local chapter in each of the 50 states. On this website, you can find educational opportunities, information on suicide prevention and research, and connections for support. This organization also provides ways to get involved with fund raising efforts and advocacy through public policy.
National Alliance on Mental Illness
The National Alliance on Mental Illness organization focuses on creating a better life for those Americans impacted by mental illness. NAMI’s mission is to provide advocacy, education, support and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives.
Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors
This nonprofit organization’s mission is ‘Caring for Families of America’s Fallen Heroes’. This site offers support for families struggling with the loss of loved ones in the military, but they also have a page dedicated to suicide loss support. ‘The TAPS Suicide Postvention Model provides hope and healing to suicide loss survivors. This organization offers trainings, retreats and consultations with experts on staff.
The Suicide Prevention Resource Center
This a federally funded resource center devoted to the implementation of the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention. This site offers consultation, training and resources to enhance suicide prevention efforts in organizations that serve populations at risk for suicide. This organization supports the Zero Suicide initiative based on the premise that suicide is preventable.
National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)
This is a federal agency with a focus on researching mental illness disorders. Their mission is to understand mental illnesses to provide better treatments. Visit this site to learn about the research that is being done for this effort.

This is the nation’s health protection agency working 24/7 to protect America from health and safety threats, both foreign and domestic. Although this agency is known mostly for it’s efforts in controlling contractible physical diseases, this organization also includes various articles on research and statistics surrounding suicide trends, policy, prevention, risks and protective factors.
